Overview
The Kyoritsu KEW 5711 senses AC voltage through insulation, so you can check a cable, socket or terminal for the presence of voltage without touching a conductor. When it detects AC voltage the tip glows and a buzzer sounds.
Two sensitivity settings are available: Hi detects from AC 20 V and Lo from AC 90 V, both up to 1000 V at 50/60 Hz. It is ready without a power-on step, has a built-in flashlight, weighs about 40 g and runs on two AAA cells. It is rated IEC 61010-1 CAT IV 600 V / CAT III 1000 V.
